Design & Technology
The DfE POS states that: 'Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’needs, wants and values. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art'.

Cooking and Nutrition:
Cooking and Nutrition is a huge part of the new 2014 DT curriculum. Cooking will predominantly take place within the Creative Curriculum, with nutrition being covered though Science and PSHE.
Key Stage 1:
Children will use the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet to prepare dishes and understand where food comes from.
Key Stage 2:
Children will understand and apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet. They will be able to cook a range of dishes reflecting this. They will become competent in a range of cooking techniques including applying heat to combining tastes and textures. Children will be able to identify the source, seasonality and characteristics of ingredients.
