Assessment at Five Elms
Assessment is integral to high quality teaching and learning. It helps us to ensure that teaching is providing appropriate challenge and that learners are making expected or better progress. We assess children against key objectives within the National Curriculum.
Nursery
- Development informally monitored by staff
- Pupil profiles are compiled based on class evidence
- Information shared with families at parent consultation meetings
Foundation Stage Profile
- Reception Baseline Assessment completed within the first half term
- Pupils monitored throughout the year based on meeting ELGs
- Information shared with families at parent consultation meetings
Year 1 Phonics Screening Check
- In June, pupils complete the phonics screening
- Assessed as to whether pupils meet the expected national standard
- Results shared with parents in the end of year report in July
KS2 SATs
- In May, pupils in Year 6 complete national assessments in reading, maths and grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Writing is assessed by teachers and moderated with colleagues
- Assessed as to whether pupils meet the expected national standard
- Results shared with parents in the end of year report in July
